Burnt Food At Popular Cross River Deli/Country Store Brings Fire Department

Just before 4:30 a.m. Thursday a whole contingent of dedicated firefighters responded to a popular Westchester County deli and market for a fire call but found instead burnt food.

South Salem and Vista fire department were dual dispatched to a reported structure fire at the 5th Division Deli in Cross River, the South Salem Fire Department said.

Car 2451 arrived on scene first and found the first floor filled with smoke and put out the call for additional departments to respond, they added.

Hoses were stretched and firefighters entered the building to find burnt food on the stove filling the deli/store with smoke, South Salem officials said.

The burnt food was removed and the building was ventilated. Firefighters cleared the scene within an hour.

Other departments responding included Vista Fire Department, Bedford Hills Fire Department, Bedford Fire Department, Golden's Bridge Fire Department, and Pound Ridge Volunteer Fire Department
